Palé
Our story

Two kids, one paleta, a lot of chocolate.

How it started

Venezuela, Guatemala, and a batting cage in Evansville.

Alejandro's family is from Venezuela. Elder's is from Guatemala. They met over baseball — a Lobos practice at D-BAT Evansville — and a shared love of the game turned into a friendship, and then into Palé.

Who does what

Alejandro on gelato. Elder on coffee.

Alejandro makes the gelato — Italian-style paletas frozen onto the stick, hand-dipped in chocolate, finished one at a time. Elder runs the coffee: Guatemalan and Colombian beans, roasted locally, pulled shot by shot. Nothing on the menu is an afterthought.

The rest of the family

Family first. Evansville a close second.

Amy and the team run the counter and the flower wall. Palé is a family business first — and the family keeps growing to include everyone who works here and the neighborhood that shows up for a paleta. That is the whole idea.

Where the name came from

Palé was named for the founders' children, Paula and Alejandro. The word also echoes paleta — the Spanish word for a popsicle — which reinforces exactly what the shop is built around: gelato on a stick.
